IODA founder and CEO Kevin Arnold is a terminal music fan and music technology geek. In 1993 he created the seminal indie rock music festival Noise Pop, which has grown to be an internationally renowned celebration of music, film, and independent culture. Kevin started his technology career at Oracle in 1996 and then moved on to direct Data Services for Listen.com, creators of the Rhapsody music service. After guiding the development of Listen's database systems, data integration, and music royalty data, Kevin founded IODA in 2003. At IODA, Kevin combines his dedication to music and his unique understanding of the digital music world to benefit the independent rightsholder community.

Kevin is a member of the Advisory Board of the Future of Music Coalition, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating the media, policymakers, and the public on the intersection of music & technology. Kevin is founder and chairman of The Popular Noise Foundation, a Bay Area non-profit.

Celia Hirschman
Celia will moderate the conversation with Jeff Price of TuneCore.

Celia Hirschman oversees a wide scope of music business. With 29 years experience behind her, she runs the marketing consulting company she founded, Downtown Marketing. Ms. Hirschman also runs the UK based independent label, One Little Indian, in North America, overseeing the marketing for such artists as Bjork, The Twilight Singers, Lloyd Cole and others.

In addition, Ms. Hirschman is a weekly commentator on Los Angeles NPR station KCRW, speaking on issues affecting the music business. Her show, “On The Beat” airs at 4:44 on Wednesdays, right in the middle of NPR’s, “All Things Considered”. “On The Beat” is podcast around the world, via KCRW, Itunes, and many other nationally known outlets. Ms. Hirschman also serves as guest host for KCRW’s half hour radio show, “The Politics of Culture” as well as a guest commentator on the National radio show, “Marketplace”, and XM’s “Musician’s Radio”.

She resides in San Francisco.

Jordan Kurland, Zeitgeist Artist Management

Jordan Kurland is the founder and owner of Zeitgeist Artist Management, LTD. Formed in 1999, with offices in San Francisco and Brooklyn; Zeitgeist focuses on cultivating long-term careers for independently minded artists. The company’s roster includes Death Cab for Cutie, the Postal Service, She & Him, Bob Mould, Matt Nathanson, Grizzly Bear, Rogue Wave, Say Anything, Sondre Lerche, Smoosh, and producer/musician Jimmy Tamborello and his electronic projects DNTEL and James Figurine.

Jordan is a partner in one of the nation’s most respected and long-standing music festivals, Noise Pop. Dubbed ‘its own institution’ by the San Francisco Weekly, Noise Pop has been showcasing the most influential independent national and local artists for the last 17 years. Jordan is also the co-founder of the Treasure Island Music Festival which launched in 2007 and has featured Modest Mouse, MIA, The Raconteurs, TV On the Radio, Justice and Fleet Foxes and many more. Spin Magazine described the boutique outdoor festival as ‘a full blown love affair.’

Jordan sits on the board of the Marin Headlands Center for the Arts, the Stern Grove Festival and Air Traffic Control, an organization dedicated to connecting the music community to social action. He spent five years on the board of directors of the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) ending with the company’s partial acquisition by Sony in mid-2009

Prior to forming Zeitgeist, Jordan spent four years at David Lefkowitz/Figurehead Management where he worked closely with Primus, Charlie Hunter, and the Melvins. Past artists that Zeitgeist has represented include the Estate of Elliot Smith, Feist, Creeper Lagoon, Beulah and the founder of the seminal punk band X, John Doe.

Scott Perry has been involved with the music industry for almost 20 years. What started as an internship at a local radio station during high school lead to driving around baby bands like Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine as a college rep for Sony, followed by handling PR for Nine Inch Nails during Woodstock, then promo and marketing stints with Beggars Banquet and Universal / Interscope.

Scott parlayed his passion for good music and new media to work with the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) and Liquid Audio before launching NEW MUSIC TIPSHEET. What started as a means of keeping his indie store friends on top of new releases has blossomed into a full-time endeavor to keep the entire industry abreast of upcoming releases, TV listings, news, and headlines from today's top music blogs.

All corners of the music industry use the Tipsheet to stay on top of music and technology trends -- a wide array of labels, distributors, online music providers, radio, retail, press, booking agents & concert promoters, TV and videogame developers, music supervisors, ad agencies, and Fortune 500 companies all use the Tipsheet to make their worlds a little better.
