Ask folks about Joi Pitts and you will soon find yourself buoyed by a whirlwind of superlatives. Weighty words like: creative, committed, passionate, driven, skillful, inspiring, and integrity. It is no surprise that, in an industry marred by change and uncertainty, Pitts has secured her place as one the most trusted and steadfast executives in the music business.
Joi Pitts is the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Atlantic Records where she builds artists as brands making them commercially and culturally viable with an eye towards ensuring their career longevity. She has launched, guided and/or overseen the careers of everyone from Lil' Kim and Brandy, to Sean Paul, Musiq Soulchild, Missy Elliott and more. She also leads a team of product managers, providing direction and mentorship while supervising the ground-breaking marketing efforts of artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Lupe Fiasco, Estelle, Janelle Monae and more.
Pitts has lead by example, particularly during music's most turbulent years, providing an oasis of dependability combined with forward-thinking agility. She has grown her role to include the development of branding opportunities and strategic partnerships which have created new revenue streams and helped to further Atlantic's position as an industry leader. To that end, she was instrumental in securing the Remy Martin Global Ambassadorship deal for rapper/actor T.I., and the Grey Goose "Rising Icons" platform for B.o.B, Laura Izibor and Estelle.
Pitts is an Alumni of Howard University where she pledged the esteemed Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She began her career as an Executive Assistant at Uptown Records and ventured into marketing upon landing a gig at Motown Records. Pitts was quickly promoted to Marketing Coordinator at Motown. She moved onto Undeas Entertainment, a small indie label that housed the likes of Lil' Kim and Junior Mafia, shortly thereafter. In 2000 she found her professional home when she joined the Atlantic Records family by accepting the position of Product Manager. Pitts has been steadily promoted up through the ranks at Atlantic over the past 10 years and has held the title of SVP, Marketing at Atlantic since 2010.
In addition to all of her professional accomplishments, Joi Pitts is a dedicated wife, the adoring mother of twin girls, and a member of the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
